Musandam
مسندمThe mountain tip of Arabia on the Strait of Hormuz, where Kumzari, an Iranian language, is spoken.
Musandam faces Iran across the Strait of Hormuz, its fjords and mountains a world apart from the rest of Oman. In the village of Kumzar, at its northern tip, people speak Kumzari, a south-western Iranian language with Arabic elements, found nowhere else.
Traders and fishermen have crossed between Musandam, Hormuz and the Iranian coast for thousands of years.
