The story
In a famous passage of the Masnavi, Rumi lists what love transforms: through love bitter things become sweet, and copper turns to gold. The lines borrow the language of alchemy to describe a change of the heart.
Persiahaus Studio set the couplet in ink Nastaliq on a turquoise ground, over a saffron pointed arch, inside a ruled frame with red stars at the corners. The saffron behind the words stands in for the gold.
