Cypress

The story

The cypress, sarv, is evergreen, tall and straight, and in Persian poetry it stands for the graceful stature of the beloved. The poets also speak of the free cypress, sarv-e azad, because it bears no fruit and so is bound to no season.

Persiahaus Studio set the single word in ink Nastaliq on a clay ground, over a white circle, inside a ruled frame with dark lapis stars at the corners. It belongs beside the garden prints as their spoken name.
