Love

The story

Eshgh, love, is the central word of the Persian lyric tradition. In Hafez, Rumi and Saadi it can mean human love, love of God, or both at once, and the poets rarely let the reader settle which.

Persiahaus Studio set the word alone in Nastaliq, in paper-white letters on a pomegranate ground, over a pointed arch of ink. A thin ruled frame with small eight-pointed stars at its corners holds the word in place.
