بنی آدم اعضای یکدیگرند
که در آفرینش ز یک گوهرند
The children of Adam are limbs of one another, for in creation they are of one essence.
The story
These lines come from Saadi’s Golestan, the Rose Garden, and they are probably the most widely quoted Persian verses on shared humanity: the children of Adam are limbs of one another, made from one essence. They are often recited far beyond Iran.
Persiahaus Studio set the couplet in paper-white Nastaliq on an ink ground, over a pomegranate circle, inside a ruled frame with turquoise stars at the corners. The circle has no beginning and no end, which is the point of the verse.
