The story
A pishtaq is the high rectangular frame that surrounds the arch of an iwan, often covered in tile and inscriptions. It announces the entrance from far away and makes the doorway feel taller than the building behind it.
Persiahaus Studio drew one portal in portrait: pointed arches nested inside each other in saffron, pomegranate, paper and turquoise on an ink ground, with a small pomegranate sun at the centre. It is a single doorway for a single wall.
