The story
Khatam is the Persian craft of inlaying tiny segments of wood, bone and metal into dense geometric patterns, most often built around stars. Its beauty comes from discipline: many identical units, assembled with great patience, producing a shimmering field.
Persiahaus Studio built a tessellation of eight-pointed stars in lapis, saffron and pomegranate and then broke it once, with a single turquoise star turned slightly out of its place. Tradition is the grid; the broken tile is the present tense.
