The story

Persiahaus Studio drew two geometric profiles facing each other on clay: young, beardless Sohrab in a white helmet before a saffron halo, and Rostam, bearded, in his grey helmet and tiger skin before a red one; between them, the armband by which the father knew his son too late.

A father and son who have never met face each other on the battlefield. It is the most heartbreaking episode in the Shahnameh, and Ferdowsi knows it. The full story is told in the Mythology section.
