The Talk of Unbelief and Faith

Saeb Tabriziصائب تبریزی

گفتگوی کفر و دین آخر به یک جا می کشد

The talk of unbelief and faith comes in the end to one place:

خواب یک خواب است و باشد مختلف تعبیرها

the dream is one dream, though its interpretations differ.

A note for readers

A single couplet from a ghazal by Saeb, often quoted on its own: the quarrels of faiths, it says, are rival interpretations of a single dream. It is among the couplets chosen from Saeb’s Divan to stand on their own, and shows his gift for compressing a large idea into one comparison.
