The story

Boteh jegheh is the Persian name for the curling teardrop motif that the West came to call paisley, after the Scottish town that wove imitations of Kashmir shawls. It appears in Persian carpets, textiles and embroidery in countless variations.

Persiahaus Studio drew the boteh in rows on deep lapis, each shape nested with a smaller one inside and a small dot near its base, the motifs turning in alternate directions. The pattern runs across two canvases without a break.
