The story
Eight-pointed stars are among the most widespread motifs of Persian geometric art, found in tilework, carved wood and khatam inlay. Set edge to edge on a square grid, they leave small four-pointed stars at the corners, so one simple rule produces a field that seems to move.
Persiahaus Studio built a chequered field of eight-pointed stars, each with a smaller star and a dot at its heart, with red four-pointed stars at every corner. On deep lapis, run across four canvases, it reads like a tiled frieze from a courtyard wall.
