The story

Termeh is a fine hand-woven Persian cloth, closely associated with the city of Yazd and often patterned with the boteh, the teardrop motif known in English as paisley. It is used for table covers and is laid out on the Nowruz and Yalda tables in many homes.

Persiahaus Studio drew rows of boteh on pomegranate red, each one holding a smaller boteh inside it, in saffron, ink, deep lapis and paper, the rows alternating direction as a weaver might. Across four canvases it reads like a bolt of cloth unrolled along the wall.
