The story
Among the most recognisable forms from Persepolis is the column capital carved as two bulls kneeling back to back, the roof beams once resting in the saddle between their heads. Fragments of these capitals are now held in museums in Iran and abroad.
Persiahaus Studio reduced each capital to a bar and two discs, the bulls abstracted to their outline, and set them on fluted columns in paper white against deep lapis. A saffron sun hangs low behind the colonnade, and the picture runs across two canvases.
