The story
The Caspian, called Darya-ye Khazar in Persian, is the largest enclosed body of water on Earth and forms Iran’s northern shore. Its coast is green, wet and wooded, very different from the dry plateau to the south.
Persiahaus Studio drew the sea as rows of overlapping circles, each with a faint inner ring, like fish scales or the crests of waves, in turquoise, paper, ink, saffron and red. Across four canvases the rows run on without a horizon.
